What it opens
The awkward email files that arrive from Outlook users, plus the standard kinds. When a file can’t be opened, you’re told why in plain words, not shown a blank page.
- Outlook .msgEmails saved or forwarded from Outlook, old and new, in any language. Emails attached inside them open too.
- winmail.datUnpacked into the real attachments, with the message text from inside when it’s there.
- .eml and .emlxStandard email files from Gmail, Thunderbird, Apple Mail and most systems.
- .mbox mailboxesGoogle Takeout, Apple Mail and Thunderbird exports. The first 10 messages are free.
- Small .pst filesOutlook data files up to 150 MB, folder by folder, and many .ost caches. The first 10 messages are free.
- Other Outlook itemsCalendar items, contacts, tasks and notes saved from Outlook open with the text they hold.
- Signed emailS/MIME-signed messages open normally. The signature itself isn’t checked.
- Encrypted emailS/MIME- or PGP-encrypted messages can only be opened by their recipient. The page says so.
- “Do not forward”Rights-protected Outlook email stays locked to its recipient, by design.
- Big .pst and .olmData files over 150 MB and Outlook for Mac archives (.olm) aren’t supported.
Made for emails you’d rather not hand to a stranger
Most “online viewers” upload your file to their server. Mailunwrap reads it in your browser, and treats every email as if it might be hostile.
- 1
Nothing is uploaded
Your browser reads the file from your device and the page unpacks it there. It isn’t sent to us or anyone else, and nothing is kept when you close the tab.
- 2
Tracking pictures held back
Pictures loaded from the internet can tell a sender you opened their email. They stay off until you choose to show them.
- 3
Nothing in the email runs
The message is shown in a sealed frame where scripts can’t run and forms can’t send. Links open in a new tab.
- 4
Attachments stay files
Attachments are saved to your device, never opened inside the page, and risky kinds such as programs and macro documents are pointed out.

Batch, PDF and whole mailboxes
Opening emails and saving their attachments is free, one file at a time, for as long as you like. For people who deal with a lot of email files, a single payment adds:
- Batch to PDF. Choose many .msg, winmail.dat, .eml, .mbox or .pst files and get one ZIP: a PDF of every email, all the attachments in folders, and a summary spreadsheet. A file that can’t be read is listed with the reason; the rest still go in.
- Save as PDF in one click, without the print dialog.
- Whole mailboxes. Browse every message in an .mbox or a small .pst and search by subject, sender, recipient or folder (the first 10 are free).
- Save all attachments from an email as one ZIP.
No account and no subscription. Files still never leave your device.
